ICDP advances in Nicaragua

ICDP training is progressing well in Ocotal, Nicaragua.

ICDP is working with INPRHU as the local partner organization in Ocotal. In March, INPRHU organized the second ICDP training workshop that was attended by their staff and colleagues. All participants had already  tried out the eight ICDP guidelines for good interaction in relation to their children. The ICDP trainer, Monica Andersson, shares some of the comments from the workshop participants. :

- How do you think ICDP can help and contribute?

• In our work, learning to work with ICDP guidelines and principles contributes to building empathy and an optimal relationship with children that will contribute to their emotional and intellectual development.
• Interacting with staff, students and parents. Contributes to improving communication.
• Enriches knowledge. Increases methodological ability. Sensitizes target groups and ourselves.
• I have learned and enriched myself positively from this.
• ICDP helped me to exchange knowledge, share experiences, improve my interpersonal relationships.
• It can help to enrich and complement our knowledge, to gradually change our behavior to become more interactive.
• It has helped me to become a better person and in my way of thinking and I can help contribute to adults, adolescents and children.
• I will be sharing it in my community, family and projects.
• It can contribute by changing the adult mentality. It is a program that helps us see ourselves as a person and see the child as a person.
• It can help foster parents and improve family parenting practice. It will contribute to strengthen the empathic abilities with teachers and educators through the application of the guidelines.
• Directly, since it is a program that will strengthen the integral growth of girls and boys, it works directly with mothers and fathers for a good treatment of their children.
• It can contribute to strengthening personal relationships between children, parents, and the whole community, to improve the behavior of each of the participants.
• Very important to develop in the work area and with our family. Contributes to better relationships with girls and boys
• I believe I can implement it in the advocacy and awareness-raising work by public and private bodies focused on education in the city.
• ICDP will help improve the interaction in our family, which lack such practice
• ICDP helped me to become aware of how I work with children and how I can improve interaction with children. It helps me to look deeper into my approach to children and to reflect on my way of speaking and having personal contact with children. Now I am aware of the emotional dialogue. It is very important as it helps me a lot with working with children
• Personally develop myself and change my own conception of how I have acted in different situations.

- Do you think the methodology is applicable in the area of your work?
• The methodology is applicable in my home with my child and in my work. For it is necessary to create empathy to achieve confidence of each boy and girl; contribute to the emotional development and intelligence and to create good social relations. Besides that, it encourages love in the home.
• The methodology can be applied in a group and individual way.
• Yes, because we work with people and we all need to be better people.
• Of course, I have personally experienced much of what I have learned especially in dealing with my child.
• The methodology was participatory, creative.
• It is of great importance, to share, to transmit to other people this knowledge.
• Yes, because it is a clear and easy to apply methodology.
• Yes, because my work is directly with children and I am the mother of two children -it will strengthen relationships.
• In our work centers, it is very important for all members to change their attitude. In my home it is also very important to practice the different types of dialogues as it will create better relations in the family.
• The methodology is applicable in INPRHU projects and it will be very effective when we apply it within the community
• I will apply the methodology in my home and with groups of parents in my neighborhood
• The methodology is definitely applicable in my area of work and in my home
• It is applicable because it contributes to make a better person and human being.
