ICDP is integrated on permanent basis in the professional
practice and in the overall intervention programme of the institute
“Communidad Terapeutica Convivencial Luis Amigo”.
1999: training of pre-school directors and teachers
2000: qualified ICDP trainers established at FUNLAM;
training of professionals in the Capuchin organization; project
with families whose children (6-11 years) have behavioural problems
at school;
2 projects through the FUNLAM university’s
research department: 1) with adolescent mothers and 2) with 5 institutions
that work in child protection.
2000: ICDP programme is inserted in the curriculum
for students, of the department for families, at FUNLAM University
2001: training of social workers from ‘Colegio
San Jose’ and project with parents and young people, families
at high risk; participation of 2 students from Norway
2002: ICDP programme is inserted in the curriculum
for students of the psychology department at FUNLAM
2002: training of 30 FAMI mothers and project reaching
200 families in Antioquia
ICDP
training and projects in cooperation with the ‘Centre for
Research’ of the ‘University of Antioquia’, in
Medellín:
2002: ICDP training of 24 students and 6 professionals
from the psychology department
2003-2004: ICDP inserted as a component of the project
MILAGRO -‘Yo no soy desplazado, yo estoy desplazado’,
implementation of ICDP with 1200 displaced families in 8 cities;
this project is also a research study, led by the Head of the Research
Department, Dr Eumelia Galeano, which will produce (in April 2004)
an evaluation of the impact of ICDP on families and children
ICDP
training and projects in cooperation with UNICEF:
2002: ICDP project reached families and children
at high risk and/or displaced, in 26 towns in Colombia. UNICEF selected
150 experienced community workers to be trained as ICDP facilitators
in 6 cities, Pasto, Popayan, Bogota, Calarca, Cucuta and Bucaramanga;
facilitators trained 850 promoters who spread the program in their
local communities. Community workers came essentially from two networks:
ICBF (Istituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar) and Conferencia
Episcopal (Catholic Church network). The planned project was to
reach 6000 families but in practice it reached three times more
due to the enthusiasm and voluntary work of trained facilitators
and promoters. 20. 011 families and 62.783 children benefited from
the program.
2003: In April, ICDP Colombia is legally registered
as an NGO. Follow up refresher workshops were held for those trained
in 2002, sponsored by UNICEF. A promotional video about the ICDP
programme is produced in cooperation and sponsorship by UNICEF.
ICDP materials were adapted and printed for wide scale use in Colombia
in cooperation and sponsorship by UNICEF.
2004: ICDP in cooperation with UNICEF, project in
the 64 town of the Nariño province; training agents from
ICBF (social services and PAB (Plan de atención básica
en salud, which is a health network) as 383 facilitators, 3.710
promoters and reaching 30.894 families, 111.544 children.
2005: ICDP- UNICEF-FONDO PARA LA ACCION AMBIENTAL
cooperation, project in all of the 123 towns of the Boyaca province;
training agents from ICBF, Education, Health and NGOs; trained were
904 facilitators, 4.992 promoters reaching 45.545 families, 149.000
children.
2006-2010: ICDP in cooperation with UNICEF, ECOPETROL
and the government of the HUILA province developed a 3 year project
training agents from health, education and social services; trained
are 133 facilitators, 1.408 promoters, who are reaching each year
13.914 families and 48.700 children.
2006-2009:
ICDP in cooperation with UNICEF
developed a project for the province of Chocó, training professionals
and agents from CINDE and ICBF networks; it is ongoing and planned
to reach 4500 families by the end of 2008.
2006: ICDP is recruited by the International Organization
for Migrants (IOM), the Bogota city government secretariat in cooperation
with the Defense Ministry to undertake a psychosocial intervention
with ex guerrilla families and children; 200 families were reached
and 7 ex guerrilla persons trained as promoters.
2007-2009: - follow up training of health professionals
from PAB network in the Nariño province.
- Training of psychologists who work with ex guerrilla
families, contract between OIM and ICDP
2006 and ongoing: ICDP International consultant
with trainers from ICDP Colombia undertook training in El Salvador
(from 2006) and Guatemala (from 2007). In both countries ICDP is
working in cooperation with UNICEF.
