From the very start of ICDP as a registered international
organisation, the ICDP board set up an office in Watford. The main
functions have been to assist the head office in the area of the
production of promotional, documentation and didactic materials,
as well as with ICDP developments in some countries.
ICDP initiatives developed in England:
1991 - 1993 courses for parents held in Watford
and Kings Langley
1992 - training course for preschool teachers from
the London League of Preschools
1994 - psychosocial recuperation project for Bosnian families from
the British Council for Refugees
1994 - 1996 seminars in London area for professionals
working with children and families, linked to the health and social
services networks operating in Nizhnevartovsk, Siberia.
1996 - training in cooperation with the Institute
of Psychiatry, London University, as part of a wider, UNICEF sponsored,
psychosocial intervention programme in Bosnia
1996 - cooperation with the British Consortium for
Street Children on initiating the "Ciudad Don Bosco Street
Children conference" in Medellin, Colombia and ICDP workshop
1996 - cooperation with the British Consortium for
Street Children, on initiating the international conference on the
topic of street children in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and ICDP workshop
1996 - 1997 cooperation with UK office of Worldview
International on developments of ICDP in Armenia, Colombia
1997 - 1998 courses for mothers in Great Missenden, England, in
partenrship with the local Catholic Church
1998 - 2000, cooperation with SD Britain on projects
in Ukraine
1999 - training course in Watford for a group of
professionals from different parts of England, carried out in partnership
with SD Britain
2002 - cooperation with Everychild UK and the Pertinox
group on training of staff at Centre for Children's Social Adaptation,
in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Ongoing since 1996 - agreement with SD Britain for
seed funding support to some of the ICDP initiatives in Colombia,
Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay
